My role was Lead UX/UI on this project. This is a speculative project I put together in my spare time where I focused primarily on the UI Design. I wanted to create a news site that would be easy to use, have the ability to showcase a lot of content, and have a compelling visual design.
Letting the content shine
When reviewing different types of news sites for inspiration, I often found myself getting lost in the content. I knew that was the true benchmark of an effective and intuitive news site design and strived to create an aesthetic that would let the content shine.
Creating an intuitive visual hierarchy
I worked towards creating a visual hierarchy that allowed for easy scannability and digestion of the content. I also wanted to design modules that would be flexible to accommodate many types of content.
Building depth using color and typography
I wanted the site to have some amount of depth and was very mindful of how the colors and typography would contribute to this. I used varied fonts, colors, and sizes to achieve this effect.
Designing a seamless mobile experience
As always, designing for mobile is incredibly important to the success of any design. I wanted to make sure that the designs would translate seamlessly to mobile without losing any functionality as it scales down.
Building a cohesive visual identity across the site
I wanted to make sure that the visual identity of this brand would be consistent and cohesive as users navigated throughout the site. This meant narrowing in on the details and creating a pixel perfect design.
